For 7 the Multiplicand is 143 

It is also called as ' Kevalaih Saptakam Gunyat ' which is the corollary to Paraavartya Yojayet, the fourth sutra of Vedic mathematics. This sutra is helpful for decimals for which the denominator is 7.

Example 1: 

What is the result of 1/7 ? Convert to a decimal 

We multiply the multiplicand (143) by 999 using Ekanyunena Purvena or One less than the Previous sutra.We use the same number of digits for multiplying ,so '999'

Now ,143 * 999 =?

Using One less than the Previous sutra,

143 - 1=142

999 - 142 =857

We get Result = 142857

Now multiply the result by the numerator of (1/7) ,

142857 * 1 =142857

Place a decimal point at the beginning as 0.142857

AS SIMPLE AS THAT

Therefore , 1/7 = 0.142857

Example 2: 

What is the result of 2/7 ? Convert to a decimal 

We multiply the multiplicand (143) by 999 using Ekanyunena Purvena or One less than the Previous sutra.We use the same number of digits for multiplying ,so '999'

Now ,143 * 999 =?

Using One less than the Previous sutra,

143 - 1=142

999 - 142 =857

We get Result = 142857

Now multiply the result by the numerator of ( 2/7) ,

142857 * 2 =285714

Place a decimal point at the beginning as 0.285714

AS SIMPLE AS THAT

Therefore , 1/7 = 0.285714

1/11 = .090909... 2/11 = .181818... 3/11 = .272727... 4/11 = .363636... 5/11 = .454545... 6/11 = .545454... 7/11 = .636363... 8/11 = .727272... 9/11 = .818181... 10/11 = .909090...
